This enormous tower is tall enough to be a cathedral. But it’s actually part of an art exhibit that was recently displayed in Washington, D.C. It’s made almost entirely out of paper!

Artists built the structure, called Hive, out of more than 2,700 interlocking paper tubes. Each tube is made of layers of paper and glue.

For Hive to stand, each row of tubes needed to support the weight of all the rows above it. The tubes at the bottom had to be larger and stronger than those at the top.

The tubes at the base, which held up the entire structure, were 3 meters (10 feet) tall. Each of these tubes could support more than 7,500 kilograms (16,500 pounds)!
