What a view! The world’s longest and highest glass bridge recently opened in central China. It spans 430 meters (1,410 feet) across the Zhangjiajie (JAHNG-jya-jyey) Grand Canyon.

Bridge crossers get a stomach-churning view 300 meters (985 feet) down to the canyon floor. They can also see towering sandstone cliffs and pillars. These features formed as rock was eroded, or worn away, by water over millions of years.

Visitors should have no fear of falling, officials say. The bridge is made of 99 panels of three-layered glass. Each layer can hold up to 40 tons—the weight of six elephants!
